Final FCS Top 25 - Nov. 24

The regular season is over.

Unfortunately, it was one of the worst years in program history for the University at Albany, also the final season for legendary coach Bob Ford. The Great Danes finished the season 1-11, didn't win a game in their new league, the Colonial Athletic Association, and are now in search of a new head coach.

The playoff field is set and the drive to unseat two-time defending champion North Dakota State, is officially underway.

The final FCS Top 25 is out from The Sports Network, as we had to all vote before yesterday's selection show.

Below, is my ballot. The number in the (xx) is where that team is located in the poll, if different from where I have them.

1. North Dakota State
2. Eastern Illinois
3. Eastern Washington
4. Montana
5. Southeastern Louisiana (7)
6. Northern Arizona (8)
7. McNeese State (6)
8. Towson (5)
9. South Dakota State (13)
10. Fordham (9)

FCS Top 25 - Nov. 18

The football season is coming to an end.

There's not too much action still to be played, as the regular season comes to an end next weekend for Football Championship Subdivision teams.

For the University at Albany, there's one more shot for the program's first Colonial Athletic Association victory, when the Great Danes travel to play Stony Brook.

Below is my ballot for The Sports Network Top 25. Here is the actual poll, with one week to play.

The top three teams continue to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.

The number in the (xx) is if the team is located in a different spot in poll, than on my ballot.

1. North Dakota State
2. Eastern Illinois
3. Eastern Washington
4. Maine
5. Southeast Louisiana (8)
6. Montana (5)
7. Northern Arizona (10)
8. Coastal Carolina (11)
9. McNeese State (6)
10. Towson (7)

FCS Top 25 - Nov. 11

The finish line is in sight.

Only two weeks left of the regular season, but still a lot of shake up in this weekend's poll. Eight of the Top 25 teams from last week lost, so the poll looks a little different.

Here is the latest The Sports Network FCS Top 25.

UAlbany continued its losing streak this weekend, but nearly upset newly ranked No. 6 Maine. I have the Black Bears at No. 4, so that would have been quite an upset.

Below is my ballot. The number in the (xx) is if the team is located in a different spot in the poll, than on my ballot.

1. North Dakota State
2. Eastern Illinois
3. Eastern Washington
4. Maine (6)
5. Fordham
6. Sam Houston State (4)
7. Charleston Southern (13)
8. Southeastern Louisiana (14)
9. Montana (7)
10. Montana State (8)

FCS Top 25 - Nov. 4

We've reached November.

There are only three weeks left in the regular season.

The University at Albany continues to struggle in its first season in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Great Danes led early, but fell 27-10 to Richmond, their seventh straight loss.

UAlbany is back home this weekend, when they host No.8 Maine (8-1) at Bob Ford Field, on Bob Ford bobblehead day. (I have Maine ranked No. 5 on my ballot -- the Black Bears only loss is to Northwestern)

Here is the latest The Sports Network FCS Top 25.

Below is my ballot. The number in the (xx) is if the team is different than where the team is in the actual poll.

1. North Dakota State
2. Eastern Illinois
3. Montana State (4)

FCS Top 25 - Oct. 28

The top teams are separating themselves from the pack.

Only one of the Top 10 teams lost this past weekend and the playoff picture is starting to come into focus.

Here is the latest Top 25 poll from The Sports Network.

While I don't have a lot of teams in the exact position, the poll has them, every team I have is within five spots of where they appear in the poll, including William & Mary, which is the third team receiving votes. The biggest difference I have is Southeast Louisiana, which I have at 20 and appears in the poll at 25

As for UAlbany's league, five of the CAA teams are ranked (I ranked six) and three others (for some unknown reason, someone is ranking Stony Brook, which dropped to 3-4, with a loss to New Hampshire) are receiving votes. The Great Danes were off this past week, but travel to Richmond this weekend.

My ballot is located below. The number in the (xx) is if the team is located in a different spot in the poll than I have them on my ballot.

1. North Dakota State
2. Eastern Illinois
3. Montana State (5)
4. McNeese State
5. Eastern Washington (3)
6. Maine (10)
7. Fordham (9)
8. Coastal Carolina (6)
9. Towson (7)
10. Sam Houston State (8)

There was a lot of shakeup in Week 2 in the FCS.

A lot of highly-ranked teams went down and that means The Sports Network FCS Top 25 poll looks different than it did a week ago.

Omar Osbourne earns CAA OPOW honor

Mike McMahon - The Record
On Monday, University at Albany running back Omar Osbourne earned a conference honor from the Colonial Athletic Association.

Osbourne (right) was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week, following a career-high 252-yard rushing effort in the 37-34 victory over Colgate.  Osbourne also rushed for two touchdowns.

The UAlbany football team is still receiving votes in The Sports Network Top 25.

The Great Danes play their first CAA game against Rhode Island, on Saturday. The game will be the first contest on brand new Bob Ford Field.

FCS Top 25 - Sept. 2

The first week of the college football season is in the books.

What a week for the FCS, with so many upsets of FBS teams.

However, for the University at Albany, it was a disappointment. The Great Danes lost 35-24 to Duquesne and now have to bounce back before heading to Colgate on Saturday.

Despite the loss, UAlbany is still receiving votes in the Top 25. The Great Danes are still ahead of the Dukes in the poll, despite losing to them by 11.

Once again, I've been asked to take part in The Sports Network Top 25 voting.

While this is not required, I will post my ballot here on the blog every week after I cast it.

FCS Top 25 - Nov. 13

The University at Albany moved back into my Top 25, for The Sports Network.

It wasn't really based on what the Great Danes did, although their victory against Duquesne was a big one. It was more about the teams at the bottom of poll that lost and Colgate which beat Lehigh. Remember, UAlbany defeated Colgate, pretty convincingly, earlier this year.

While the Great Danes moved back onto my ballot, their shot at a at-large bid was hurt by the losses of Lehigh and Stony Brook. UAlbany will likely need to win and have Wagner lose to earn the Northeast Conference's automatic bid.

Here is a link to the Top 25 poll.

Below is my ballot. The number in the (xx) is where the team is actually located in the poll.

1. North Dakota State
2. Montana State

FCS Top 25 - Oct. 15

Here is my ballot for the The Sports Network Top 25. There was a big shakeup this week, as four of the previous top five teams lost. That's seen in the fact that eight teams received first place votes.

The University at Albany won, yet I still dropped them a few spots, based on a few of the other results and teams that upset those teams at the top.

Here is a link to the Top 25. UAlbany is still outside the Top 25, but seem to be inching closer to a ranking, which would be the second in school history. Last year, the Great Danes ended the season ranked No. 23 in the poll.

The number in (x) is where the team actually stands in the Top 25.

1. Eastern Washington
2. Georgia Southern (3)
3. James Madison (2)
4. Montana State (5)
5. North Dakota State (4)
6. Wofford (8)
7. Lehigh (9)
8. Stony Brook (10)
9. Indiana State (21)
10. Illinois State (11)
11. Old Dominion  (7)
12. Appalachian State (13)
13. New Hampshire (12)
14. Sam Houston State (6)
15. Youngstown State
16. Towson (18)
17. Northern Arizona (16)
18. UAlbany (NR)
19. Harvard (22)
20. Cal Poly  (14)
21. Central Arkansas (19)
22. Tennessee State (17)
23. Villanova (24)
24. Eastern Kentucky (23)
25. South Dakota State (20)
