Siena released its 2011-12 men's basketball non-conference schedule.

Home dates with Navy (Nov. 16), St. Bonaventure (Nov. 21), Fordham (Dec. 12), Princeton (Dec. 22) and the annual UAlbany clash for the Capital Cup (Dec. 5) highlight Siena's 2011-12 men's basketball non-conference schedule.

In addition to the five home matchups, the Saints will play five road games: the four released Thursday and an ESPNU BracketBusters contest to be announced in the coming weeks.

Siena will play UMass in the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase at the MassMutual Center in Springfield on December 9 at 8 p.m., site of the 2012 MAAC Basketball Championships. More details on the event will follow in a later release.

Siena travels to Georgia Tech Wednesday, November 23. The Saints knocked off the Yellow Jackets 62-57 in Albany last season, and 76-68 in the 1994 NIT. The Saints also visit Mt. St. Mary's (Nov. 19), Vermont (Nov. 26) and Florida Atlantic (Dec. 28).

The 18-game 2011-12 MAAC schedule will likely be released in September.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Dion Lewis is now an official member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lewis, the Eagles’ fifth-round draft choice, agreed to a four-year deal, worth a little more than $2.2 million, according to FoxSports.com’s Adam Caplan.

Lewis (right) made it official by tweeting “Officially an EAGLE”, on Wednesday afternoon.

Philadelphia opens its 2011 training camp this afternoon, at Lehigh University, the summer home of the club and Lewis is expected to be there.

The former Pitt star was one of eight draft picks the Eagles came to terms with on Wednesday, each received four-year deals.

Lewis rushed for 2,860 yards in two seasons at Pitt.

He earned Big East Rookie of the Year honors after his first season with the Panthers and was the first player since Michael Vick, in 1999, to win both the Big East Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards in the same season.

Lewis’ freshman mark of 1,799 yards broke Tony Dorsett’s 36-year-old school record for freshmen.

Lewis was named The Record's 2006 Football Player of the Year, after leading Albany Academy to the Class B New York State title game, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

Lewis ran for 1,368 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Cadets, while also making 70 tackles and intercepting three passes. Albany Academy finished 12-1 that season, losing to Geneva in the championship game.

Lewis then on to play for Blair Academy (N.J.), where he finished with 1,243 yards on just 88 carries (14.1 ypc), in his second season, while also scoring 26 total touchdowns.

Eddie Delaney leads a group of eight UAlbany Great Danes selected to the All-NEC football preseason team by Phil Steele's publication.

A 6-foot-6, senior defensive end, Delaney (right) earned second-team all-conference honors for the second time last season. Delaney totaled 41 tackles and helped the Great Danes rank second in the conference against the run.

Also honored on the preseason first team were wide receiver Ryan Kirchner, safety Jake Ciccarello and punter Paul Layton, a graduate of Burnt Hills.

Kicker Herb Glass, running back Dillon Romain and insider linebackers Dave Plungas and Jon Morgan were picked to the second team.

The Great Danes were chosen to win the 2011 Northeast Conference by Athlon Sports and selected to finish third in The Sporting News and Lindy's Sport Annuals.

UAlbany. which has posted a school record five consecutive winning seasons, begins preseason camp on Monday, Aug. 8 and the Great Danes open the season Saturday, Sept. 3, at Colgate.

COHOES - Burnt Hills took the home the title at the 5th annual Tiger Shootout, Sunday at Cohoes High.

It got me thinking that high school football season isn't too far off - about a month until teams start practicing.

Former Siena stars Ronald Moore (right) and Alex Franklin (below) will continue their pro careers on different teams.

Moore is headed to play for Turow, a club in Poland, while Franklin made the decision to join JA Vichy of the French Ligue Nationale de Baketball (LNB).
