Vermont 50, UAlbany 47

ALBANY - UAlbany did its best job at totally changing their gameplan.

Used to an up-tempo style, the Great Danes slowed it down, but Vermont got some big shots late to escape with a 50-47 victory at SEFCU Arena.

Sandro Carissimo and Matt Glass hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Catamounts up nine, 46-37, in the final minute.

UAlbany didn't go away, getting a 4-point play from Mike Black and a 3-pointer from Jacob Iati to cut to within one, but the Great Danes could come no closer.

Black led the way for UAlbany (8-7, 16-13) with 16 points, while Jayson Guerrier added 14.

The Great Danes played without Gerardo Suero, the nation's fifth leading scorer and their second leading scorer, Logan Aronhalt, was held scoreless in only nine minutes, due to a knee issue. UAlbany also was without Luke Devlin in the second half.

Brendan Bald scored 10 points to lead Vermont (12-2, 18-10), while the Catamounts leading scorer, Four McGlynn was held off the scoreboard.

UAlbany is back in action, when they host Rider, in a BracketBusters game on Saturday.
