WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University at Albany got big games from its freshmen and because of that, they are headed to the America East Conference semifinals.
Freshman Sarah Royals scored a career-high 21 points and fellow frosh Megan Craig added nine points, five rebounds and two blocks in the 74-61 victory.
The Great Danes (21-9) will play the winner of Hartford/Binghamton, in a semifinal matchup, at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday.
UAlbany struggled to put away Vermont (10-20), but they scored the game's final 11 points, all from the free throw line to pull away down the stretch.
Niki Taylor scored a career-high 22 points for the Catamounts.
