Siena 86, Canisius 75

ALBANY - Almost everything went right for Siena on Senior Day -- almost.

The Saints scored a season-high 86 points, in defeating Canisius 86-75, on Sunday afternoon. Siena's win coupled with Niagara's loss at Marist, means that the Saints are the No. 6 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament, which is next weekend in Springfield, Mass.

The bad news was that freshman point guard Evan Hymes injured his left knee, with four minutes to play, and is headed to the hospital for further evaluation. Hymes ran into the base of the basket and had to be helped off of the court, not putting any weight on the left leg.

Kyle Downey scored a career-high 28 points, while OD Anosike added 16 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Conner Fenlon scored five points, including a 3-pointer early, as he got the start on Senior Day.

Harold Washington scored a team-high 27 points to lead the Golden Griffins.

Siena finishes the regular season 10-4 at home.
