"Big Shot" Burdine

Trenity Burdine has been named All-Berks boys basketball Player of the Year by the Reading Eagle.

Burdine is committed to play next season at Siena College.

Here's what the Eagle said about the 6-foot-5 wing who led Reading High School to the district championship.

The 6-5 senior earned his nickname "Big Shot" with a series of clutch shots and buzzer-beaters in leading the Red Knights to 28 wins and division, league and district championships.

He was at his best in the District 3-AAAA title game against unbeaten Hempfield, scoring 16 of his game-high 20 points in the second-half points.

"He hit some big-time, like, 'Wow-is-he-good' shots," Hempfield coach Warren Goodling said.

Burdine finished with 1,281 career points, eighth-best in Reading history.

He averaged 17.7 points per game overall, and shot 63.4 percent from the field and made 14-of-15 free throws in the four-game district run.

Burdine's long arms and athletic ability were a key in Reading's fullcourt trapping defense.
