Starting off

Well, we're finally getting into the digital age and that of course means starting our blogs.

Even though things aren't 100% error-free, I wanted to get things going because this is a great time of the fall season. It's the last week of the football regular season and soccer sectionals are just around the corner.

I was at the Troy High game today - the second half needed to be played after bad weather interrupted Saturday afternoon. Even though veteran coach Jack Burger wasn't sure how his team would respond after attending the Homecoming dance the night before, his team came out rolling.

The Flying Horses won convincingly 35-7 and after watching La Salle Institute's 61-37 over Schenectady and Marquis Terrell's (seen below) seven touchdowns on Friday, it seems as if both teams will be ready for Friday night, which marks the 7th annual Collar City Cup.

I've been to one Cup game, last year at Troy when the Flying Horses won 29-21, but with Troy (5-0, 6-0) and La Salle (5-0, 5-1) both undefeated in division play and ranked in the state, this game obviously has plenty on the line.

On top of the division title and the top seed for the playoffs, the winner also takes home the Collar City Cup, which is sponsored by The Record and the bragging rights of being the best football team in the city of Troy.

I'll be writing about this game the entire week, but I want to know what you think. Who will win this game and who brings home the Cup?

That's not the only big game on this, the final week of the regular season. How about these games?

Cambridge @ Corinth
Lansingburgh @ Glens Falls
Burnt Hills @ Bishop Maginn
Guilderland @ Shenendehowa
Hoosick Falls @ Greenwich
Stillwater @ Schuylerville
Mechanicville @ Watervliet
Voorheesville @ Coxsackie-Athens

Let me know what you think about this final week of the season and what teams you think will make a long run in sectionals.
